Foundation Stage (Reception)

Hello,

Welcome to Reception.

The teachers in Reception are Miss Cooper and Mrs Wright. The teaching assistants are Miss Steadman, Miss Imran and Mrs Akbar.

We have a large classroom that both Reception classes share so there are lots of things to do inside and we also have three outside areas. You can see these on a video of the Foundation Stage on this website. We go outside in all different kind of weather so please make sure you have appropriate clothing. You are welcome to bring wellies with your child’s name on into school for rainy days but mustn’t be instead of school shoes.

The start of the school day is 8:50am but you can arrive from 8:40am and the end of the school day is 3:15pm. If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, please go to the office to collect your child. Lunch time is 12noon until 1pm.

If your child is on packed lunch, please ensure it is in line with our healthy schools’ policy. Your child will be offered a piece of fruit and milk or water daily for snack. Only fruit is allowed at snack time. It is a good idea to send a labelled water bottle into school each day with your child so they can access water independently throughout the day. Make ensure it is just water they bring as juices are not allowed.

Your child will bring home a reading book which will be changed weekly. Please spend at least 10 minutes a night looking at their reading book with them and sign their reading record book. They will also have a Home School book that they will bring home on Friday and must complete and return the following Wednesday.
