September 2018

This year will be hard work and challenging, but exciting at the same time. The children will be given extra responsibilities around our school such as house point monitors, librarians, play leaders and what they have all been waiting for: head girl and head boy!

Our main topic in the autumn term will be Britain since the 1930’s so we will be visiting Stockport Air Raid Shelters on 14th September 2018 to experience what it was like underground during the war. Please read our class newsletter on the website if you want to know more about what we will be learning about in each subject this term.

We will also be visiting Safe Squad at Bennett Street Community Centre in Hyde to learn all about different safety aspects linked to growing up and leaving primary school. This trip will take place on Monday 24th September 2018. Further on in the term, we will be visiting Oldham Sixth Form College on Tuesday 20th November 2018 to take part in a science lesson linked to our circulatory topic. It will be a very busy first term for the children but I’m sure they will enjoy all of our trips and learn lots of new information.

I am looking forward to working with the children in my class and supporting them throughout the year. I have high expectations of all of the children and hope that they work as hard as they can each day. They will be challenged and motivated so that they enjoy coming to school and so that they can use the skills they have learnt in the outside world. I look forward to a wonderful year ahead of us!
