Hello Reception,

We just wanted to say a big thank you for all your hard work and patience this year.  We have loved teaching you and we will miss you all very much.  We are sure that you will have lots of fun and enjoy all the new learning with Miss Mistry and Miss Pearson.  We will see you in school and will hear about all the wonderful things that you have will be doing.  Keep up the hard work and looking after each other like you have this year.  You should be so proud of all the achievements you have made.

Please can I remind you to bring all your reading books and library books back to school in September if you have not already done so.

We have attached some new learning for you to do over the Summer holidays and it should take you 4 weeks to complete.  This gives you some time to rest and play before coming back to school on Thursday 3rd September.  Please remember to take photographs of your work and put it in the completed work folder with your name on it so we know who has completed the learning.

You can also go on Espresso, PhonicsPlay and Numbots to help with your learning too.

Good luck in Year 1!

Miss Parker and Mrs Wright

Hello Reception,

I hope you are well and enjoyed the Bank Holiday weekend sunshine. Did you see any VE day celebrations or join in with any? My family had a tea party lunch with sandwiches and homemade cake. It was delicious. People in our street put up red, white and blue bunting and flags and a neighbour played 1940’s music. Check your homework pages for some new home learning activities!

Some great links for nursery and reception children:

Can you design a book token cover for the chance to win books for our class?  Click on the link below for the template and the form to fill in and send it back to school by Friday 19th June 2020.  Maybe you could draw your favourite part or character from a story you really like.

Update 27.4.20:

Hello RW.

I hope you are well and helping to look after yourselves and your families. Make sure you are exercising regularly and eating fruits and vegetables to keep yourselves healthy. Check your homework page for activities to try this week.

Hello RW.

I hope you are well and have kept yourselves busy over the last few weeks. I have been on walks and runs, baked cakes, played board games and computer games with my children, watched some films, exercised with Joe Wicks on You Tube weekday mornings, cleaned out some old toys and books and we even camped in the lounge one night.

Check your homework page for some more tasks for you to have fun with.

Welcome to Reception W

Dear Parents and Children,

Welcome to Reception. I am Mrs Wright and I am the class teacher. Miss Imran is our Teaching Assistant who will be working with and supporting the children. We offer a warm welcome to all children and parents joining Reception. We are delighted with how well the children are settling in and we look forward to an exciting and fun year ahead.

In Reception, we have two classes, Reception HP and Reception CW.

We also have an outdoor area which we use every day in any type of weather so please make sure the children are dressed appropriately for the weather. On rainy days, children should wear a raincoat and, if you wish, can bring wellington boots in a bag to change into during outdoor play. On colder days, children should wear coats, hats, scarves and gloves. In sunny, warm weather children should wear sunhats and sun cream should be applied at home.
At the start of the day the children gather together for a phonic session and then apply their learning through different activities. The children then have snack time where they can choose milk or water and some fruit. After snack the children have a mathematics carpet lesson and then access learning through the different areas of the learning environment inside and outside. We call these areas Continuous Provision. The children will also take part in focussed group work with an adult either inside or outside. During the afternoon, the children start with carpet time and then access the Continuous provision indoors and outdoors with a focused activity. During the week, the children visit the computer suite and take part in physical activities.

Each child will bring home a reading book and a home-school book. Please listen to your child read daily, this is very important and makes a big impact on their reading skills and enjoyment of books and let us know by signing the form in their reading record books. Please support your child by helping them to complete the set activities in the home-school book and then return it to their class teacher by the following Wednesday. I will keep a very special learning journey for all the children. This folder will follow your child’s journey through Reception and will contain, work, pictures and observations of your child. You will be invited in once a term to view your child’s learning journey.

We look forward to working with your child and helping them to learn and achieve.

If you have any questions regarding your child’s time in Reception, please contact me.

Thank you for your continued support.

Mrs Wright
