Summer term 1

This half term we have been working in hard in all areas.

We are particularly proud of our learning in Science.

We have been learning about plants and how they grow. We looked at the characteristics of living things using the MRS NERG acronym. We then learned about what plants need to grow and carried out investigations to see whether removing different factors would impact the growth.

We have completed our learning by creating our very own GRASSHEADS!

Spring 2 Week 4

In Maths this week, we have been learning about perimeter of shape. We focused measuring and calculating the lengths of regular shapes.

Spring 2 Week 2

In Science this week we have been learning about forces. We explored magnets and used the vocabulary ‘attract’ and ‘repel’.  We discussed pushes and pulls and then had a go at drawing different activities that use forces for movement.

Spring 1 Week 6

This week in English, we have been learning about description again and how to create descriptive sentences to describe a character. We have been reading The Iron Man by Ted Hughes and created a picture of what we think the Iron Man looks like before describing him.

Spring 1 Week 4

This week in English, we have been learning about description and how to create descriptive sentences. We worked in teams to match the two sentence parts together. We discussed clauses and how they are used and shared our examples.

Spring 1 Week 2

This week in Art, we have been designing and making our own mosaic pictures. These are based on the learning we have done in history about the Romans, who created beautiful artwork using the mosaic technique.

Wednesday 8th December

This week in Design and Technology, we have been learning about safe use of tools. We used the bench hooks and hand saws to cut the wooden dowels to create a wooden frame. We have already designed and made prototypes. This was a fun lesson!

This week we have been learning about Stone Age Art. We looked at examples of Stone Age art and we were amazed to find out that there are still some examples  in the world today. They are millions of years old! We then used charcoal to create our own.
