Welcome

A GREAT YEAR

The 2013/14 academic year has been challenging as well as rewarding.  The year started with the intake of the Nursery and Reception children who quickly settled into the daily routines of school life.  We also started the year with the knowledge that the school was due its OfSTED inspection which came in late November.  It was a nervous time for some staff but in the end the staff, governors and pupils did what was expected and the school had a good report with some outstanding features.  This was a good note on which to end 2013.

We started 2014 with OfSTED behind us and the challenge of continuing school with the improvements made in 2013 and the preparation for a number of exciting events. In Early Spring all the pupils had the opportunity to go on a visit to Blue Planet Aquarium.  It was a great day for the pupils and for the majority of them it was their first experience of the undersea life close up.

In June 2014 members of the School Council had the opportunity to visit Ashton Town Hall to meet the Civic Mayor and Mayoress and to have one of the Council members appointed Junior Mayor for the day.  It was the first of such events at Ashton Town Hall.

With the SATs results now available the staff and I would like to say WELL DONE to all Y1, Y2 and Y6 pupils for the improvements in the tests results.  This is especially so for Y6 pupils who have achieved better results than last year which was very good.

As we approach the end of the academic year 2013/2014 I would like to express my thanks to all those parents who supported the school during the academic year. Many parents have done this in their own quiet way. The most important thing is the support you have given to your children.  Finally I would like to say a big thank you to the Governors and staff for their support during the year. Working together as a team has given us the vision, strength and commitment to continue with the improvements and to reach the goal of success.

Have a wonderful Summer.
