Welcome to Year 3!

We are Miss Lumb and Mrs Ellison and we are so excited to be your teachers this year. We’re excited to get to know you all and looking forward to a fun filled year of wonderful learning experiences.

PE day is on Tuesday so please remember your kit!

Every Friday homework will be given out with the expectation that it is returned for the following Wednesday at the latest.

Reading books will be changed once your child’s reading record is signed.

Spellings will be given out on Wednesday’s and your child will be tested on these the following Friday. So you have 10 days to practise these.

Reading and Home Learning

Reading at home and sharing a book with your child is vital! Your child will be bringing a book home and we ask that you spend around 10-15 minutes each night sharing a book with your child and then asking them questions based on their book. Why? How do you know? and Explain? are excellent questions to use to get your child really thinking about what they have read.

Other home learning includes learning times tables- x3, x4 and x8 in particular.

For homework in year 3, your child will have a homework menu for English (front of the book) and Maths (back of the book). Each week your child will choose an activity to do, one Maths and one English. Then they tick the one they have done on their sheet. The following week they will choose one Maths and one English activity to do and so on.

Many thanks for your continued support.

Miss Lumb and Mrs Ellison
