Our values — perseverance, inclusion and respect — are lived every day. We are an eco-friendly school that celebrates differences and works closely with families and the local community.

About the role

  • Post: Year 1 Teacher (job share for one academic year, fixed-term)

You will support pupils’ learning in reading, writing (Pathways to Write), and maths (Mastery approach), and contribute to a classroom culture that develops pupils’ confidence, oracy and independence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons that meet the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND and EAL.

  • Supporting the transition from phonics to comprehension and ensuring pupils are heard reading regularly.

  • Contributing to assessment, monitoring and evidence of achievement in line with school approaches.

  • Working with colleagues, subject leaders and the pastoral team to support pupils’ behaviour, attendance and wellbeing.

  • Engaging with parents and carers to build positive partnerships in learning.

About you — the ideal candidate

  • Passionate about primary education and committed to improving outcomes for every pupil, especially those with English as an additional language and those eligible for free school meals.

  • Skilled in phonics teaching (RWI), early reading and the development of oracy and vocabulary.

  • Confident in delivering mastery approaches in mathematics, and in using Pathways to Write or similar structured writing approaches.

  • Able to design lessons that are engaging, appropriately challenging and accessible for pupils with diverse needs, including SEND.

  • A reflective team player who communicates effectively with colleagues, parents and leaders and who thrives in a collaborative job-share arrangement.

  • Committed to creating a calm, emotionally friendly classroom where pupils feel safe and able to take risks in their learning.

We welcome applications from candidates who bring fresh ideas, cultural awareness and a commitment to our school community.

What we offer

  • Opportunities to work within a supportive leadership team and to access subject leader mentoring, staff coaching and collaborative planning time.

  • A chance to have meaningful impact in a school with rising pupil numbers, a dynamic curriculum and a clear improvement plan.

  • Supportive structures for pastoral care, mental health and behaviour management, including our Emotionally Friendly Setting development and OPAL play programme.
