Welcome to Ashton West End Primary Academy
On behalf of everyone at Ashton West End Primary Academy, I would like to warmly welcome you to our website. I hope it gives you a sense of what makes our academy such a special place to learn and grow. We are incredibly proud of our school, our pupils, and all that they achieve.
As a two-form entry primary academy, we have two classes in each year group, with 15 classes and a total of 434 pupils as of September 2026. Over recent years, we have continued to improve outcomes for our pupils, raising standards across the academy and enhancing the quality of education we provide.
We place a strong emphasis on British values throughout our curriculum and wider school life. Our aim is to develop confident, respectful learners who are not only successful in their education but who also become active, informed global citizens who embrace modern, diverse British society.
As recognised by Ofsted in July 2023:
“Pupils are happy to attend this warm and welcoming school. Leaders take extra care to support those pupils who join the school with English as an additional language. Relationships between staff and pupils are positive. Staff expect pupils to behave well in lessons and during social times. Pupils easily live up to these expectations. This helps to create a calm and purposeful atmosphere throughout the school.”
We strive to provide our pupils with the experiences, knowledge and academic skills needed to become successful lifelong learners. We encourage children to take pride in their achievements and embody our school motto:
“Today I am proud of my school, tomorrow my school will be proud of me.”
Our pupils enjoy learning and are actively involved in shaping their educational experience. Through regular pupil voice activities, children share their views about learning and help us continue to improve the opportunities we offer.
In recent years, we have invested significantly in our learning environment. In December 2024, extensive building works were completed, creating additional learning spaces and new teaching rooms. Our Key Stage 2 playground has also been transformed with exciting new play equipment, including a state-of-the-art climbing frame.
In March 2026, we were awarded Platinum Status for our Outdoor Play and Learning (OPaL) provision, recognising our commitment to high-quality play opportunities. Our children thoroughly enjoy playtimes and benefit from a wide range of engaging outdoor resources.
We are also proud to have opened a new 20-place SEND Unit in September 2026 for pupils with communication and interaction needs. The provision is divided across two buildings; The Learnasaurus and The Explorasaurus, both of which have been modernised and include dedicated sensory rooms to support our pupils’ learning and wellbeing. At Ashton West End Primary Academy, we believe that strong partnerships between home and school are essential to children’s success. We actively encourage parents and carers to become involved in school life through workshops, Early Years Stay and Play sessions, school fairs, coffee mornings and a variety of special events throughout the year.
We are also proud of our strong links with the local community. Our pupils support charitable causes, visit local places of worship and benefit from visits by community partners, including the police, who contribute to assemblies and educational activities.
By working together as one school family, we can ensure that every child is happy, confident and successful.
